Hamer live in villages dotted with small clusters of traditional wooden and mud huts. Family members always live within the same cluster.
The huts are always constructed the same way and the same size irrespective of the wealth of the family.
When I asked why they made huts so small that were difficult to enter and where you could not stand upright...one Hamer replied "it's our tradition and culture".
